Suatu hari di musim gugur tahun 2046, Haruyuki berjumpa dengan Kuroyukihime, gadis tercantik di sekolahnya. Untuk anak sekolah menengah yang sering diganggu, perjumpaanya itu membuat hidupnya berubah. Melalui suatu program misterius yang diperlihatkan Kuroyukihime, Haruyuki mulai merasuki dunia yang disebut Virtual Accel World. Sejak saat itu, dia dari seseorang yang dianggap remeh oleh murid-murid lain menjadi “Burst Linker”, seorang ksatria di Accel Wolrd.
